“Best Sound” at Ascot 2023 from Soundstage!

It was a pleasure to showcase Shunyata Research, Engström and Kroma Atelier at The UK Hi-Fi Show Live at Ascot Racecourse, and to welcome Bassocontinuo and Wadax to the Boyer Audio family! Thanks also to Brinkmann, Symmetry and Esoteric.

Thanks to everyone who helped us put together two wonderful rooms, and to all who came to visit and listen. We’re honoured by some of the great feedback we received after the show; check out the highlights below and don’t miss your next chance to hear us 23-24 March at The Audio Show Deluxe 2024!

“At the end of the day, if I had to vote for the best sound at UK Hi-Fi Show 2023, I would have put a checkmark next to Boyer Audio...”

Thank you!

At the UK Hi-Fi Show, in Ascot, I heard a stunning system in the demonstration room of Boyer Audio, a UK distribution company. It had a pair of loudspeakers up front, the Stella, by the Spanish company Kroma Atelier, about which I knew little but, having heard these speakers, plan to learn more…

… I can’t deny that this megabuck system, despite the relatively inexpensive speakers, sounded great—eye-popping, ear-perking, jaw-dropping great. What most impressed me was the midrange, particularly when “The Sound of Silence,” by cover artist The Ghost of Johnny Cash, was played. I was flat-out floored by the robustness and texture of the voice and its in-the-room presence. That striking midband was manifest in other songs, too, as were the depth and tightness of the bass and feathery sweetness of the highs…

… Admittedly, I wasn’t familiar with the music playing at the Boyer Audio demo, nor was I familiar with the gear or the room. So, the takeaway from the foregoing account must only be this: I was impressed by what I heard, mostly by the sound of vocals, particularly in “The Sound of Silence.”

“The Boyer room, simply blew everyone’s socks off sonically. One listener advised. “I never expected streaming to sound so real, I have avoided streaming most of my life as I prefer the vinyl source just because I found streaming to sound so cold. This room has opened my ears to a different world of possibilities!”

“Everyone who entered this room clearly looked amazed at what they heard (and physically felt). Every music genre covered had an organic ‘in the room presence.’ The depth, realism and sheer musicality was breath-taking. And surprisingly to some, the valve amplification driving such a wonderful (yet powerful) presentation was a pair of 36 watt per channel valve mono amplifiers. Of course the Lars A class valve amplifiers being used here are ‘special.’ They carry a £63,500 price tag for the pair. Of course I had to ask the fifty million dollar question. “What is the cost of the complete set-up?” Ironically, it was a patron who answered the question before the demonstrator got a chance. £500K (approximately) was the answer!”

“This impressive Boyer Distribution system was certainly a contender for best in show... the server and DAC made a strong physical and sonic impression, the sound was dynamic yet sweet with an astounding soundstage. It was hard to pick an area in which they did not excel.”

The Ear

"Both of your rooms were fabulous and certainly my favourite room when I visited Saturday. Really well done."

"One of the best systems I listened to yesterday... real music to my ears"

"A friend who visited the show on Saturday told me this was his favourite system, even more so than your big rig. He was very complimentary indeed"
